Before you start, make sure you’re happy resetting all the changes you’ve previously made. Once you undertake this process ALL settings will be reset to the state when you first took the camera out of the box.
One of the reasons factory resetting the Canon EOS M50 this isn’t so straightforward is the factory reset feature seems to be available in only some modes. Those modes are either, video(video camera icon), (P), (Tv), (Av) or manual(M).
There are two menu display modes for the Canon M50, standard and guided. Essentially the steps are the same regardless of whether you’re ins: guided or standard display mode; the graphical display is just different; for this process anyway.
- Switch the mode dial to either video(video camera icon), (P), (Tv shutter priority), (Av aperture priority) or (M Manual)
- Press the menu button
- Scroll across to Function Settings
- Click OK
- Scroll across to page 5
- Select the second option down – clear settings
- Select – Clear all camera settings
